Could anyone tell me the connection between heart issues and kidneys?
I've had kidney stones for over a year now, and I'm headed in for tests at Mayo Clinic this week to determine procedures for next week. A couple of weeks ago, I went into the ER for extreme pain from my stones. Everything checked out okay, but before I left, the PA told me that if I experienced chest pain and shortness of breath that I needed to head back in to the ER.
I'm curious about the connection between kidney stones and heart issues. Could someone explain the connection to me?
There really is no true connection between the kidney stones and cardiac issues, other than extreme pain can raise your blood pressure, which in turn can cause some ischemia to the heart. Basically, the PA told you to watch for these things because he probably tells ALL of his patients to watch for these before they are discharged. It could be hospital policy to do this as well.
