Is it possible to actually be addicted to chocolate?
I have loved chocolate all my life and indulge everyday. Recently however, over the last 6 months, I have had 9 kidney stones which are EXTREMELY painful. Several doctors have told me that chocolate contains a large amount of oxalate, which is contributing to the kidney stones. My stones are the calcium oxalate type. Chocolate, coffee, tea, spinach, among other foods are strictly prohibited from my diet. Yet no matter what I do I cannot give up chocolate. I really think I'm addicted to it. I still have 4 stones to pass per last cat scan, yet I won't give chocolate up. This all sounds stupid, but is it really possible to be addicted to chocolate?
