My kidneys hurt sometime after drinking soft drinks.?

Well, I've been trying to stop drinking diet cokes and I would do good for awhile and then start back again. Mind I used to drink like 6 cokes a day and that made my kidneys hurts so i stopped. Yet, sometimes now when I just drink 1 or 2 my kidneys buck. I'm find as long as I stick to cranberry juice or water its all good. It even got rid of a UTI that I had, no problems with that for a couple of weeks. Now, Its just small pains in my lower back/kidney area. I've stopped drinking cokes again, I'm just gonna have to let those go! But I'm only 23 I know there are others my age just guzzling down the soda, why are mine so weak? I've have 2 family members on my dads side have kidney stones so maybe i inherited it.

I have a fleeting pain in my kidney, it doesn't hurt badly at all, just slight. So I dont think it is a stone...

I'm afraid to say it but I'd bet you that you have got Kidney stones.
I had severe pain for 8 yrs until a new doctor sent me for a scan on my kidneys and they found a huge 12mm stone in my left one.
I had the op,which involves a small keyhole sized cut in your back into the kidney so they can remove it.
And now drink 3 litres of water and fresh lemon juice at nite,but they could/do return.
I see that you say say you don't have health insurance so you must be American.
I know that the op I had would have cost over 10,000 pounds(16,200$).
but we have the N.H.S in the U.K.
