kidney stones female
Is is odd for young women to get kidney stones?

I went to the ER twice this week, because of AWFUL lower back pain (by the kidneys). The first time I went, I had a CT Scan done. Found nothing. They sent me home with some Norcos & Antibiotics.

Well lucky me.. the pain came back just as bad 4 days later.. returning to the ER. Had another CT Scan. This time, smalls stones showed. Sent me home with more pain pills & just told me to drink MAD water.

Im 23 & female. Pretty healthy. Dont smoke/drink much. Is this normal??

There are several different types of stones women can develop...calcium, protein, and acid, to name a few. It is not necessarily unusual, and it is normally directly related to your diet.

Get a referral to a urologist and have them find the cause (if they can), and ask about ultrasonic break-down, to help you pass the stones. Often times though, many docs will take the wait-and-see approach to see if you can pass them on your own.

Good luck.
