What is it like to have kidney stones?
My doctor had me give a urine sample, 3 weeks ago, that came back negative for blood. A week ago, I had another urine sample tested. That sample had microscopic levels of blood. The same day I had an attack with a lot of pain in my lower back and some cramping type pain in the pelvic area. I could not stand straight or sit comfortably. I just laid down on the floor. They also tested my gallbladder and appendix, which tested negative for problems. I am scheduled for a CAT scan this week. The pain starts around my bottom right rib and moves around my side to the right lower back. Does this seem like kidney stones? Thank you for your help!
The fact that you were extremely uncomfortable and couldn't stand straight or sit comfortably does sound a lot like kidney stone pain. Microscopic blood could also indicate a stone. Kidney stones can move, so the fact that one day your urinalysis was normal and the next time showed microscopic blood doesn't mean that you don't have a kidney stone, as they travel throughout your urinary tract. If the stone moves down far enough that you are going to pass it on your own, trust me you will know it - it's kind of like passing a razor blade. Hope you feel better!
