I am having lower back pain and sometimes a burning in my intestines whenever I eat.?

I am a gastric bypass paitent. I had my surgery almost 2 years ago with no complications what so ever! Then a month ago I ate something I shouldn't have. It was very dry and though it passed trhough to my intestines it was very, very painful moving through me for about 36 hours. Afterwards I had bad lower back pain and internal soreness whenever I ate. So I switched to liquids for a week. I have seen my GP twice and consulted with my surgeon. They thought I pulled a muscle and I was just sensitive and sore. But I think it is more than that. The pain in my back is like passing a kidney stone, but the tests says I dont' have kidney issues. It comes after I eat and sometimes it is like I have burning hot stomach acid moving through my intestines too. Can anyone give me some ideas? It has been a month now and I am still in serious pain.

If the severe back pain is on the right-hand side, just above and to the left of your hip-bone, that's the spot where your ascending colon meets the transverse colon. In other words, there's a 'corner' there that loops toward the back. Which can explain the pain.

Your colon could be still slightly inflamed from the food that upset you. Or you might have IBS. Those who have it are familiar with this particular sore spot. Unflavoured Metamucil - stirred into water - will help. But with a bypass, it might not be allowed, unless you can take it a 1/4 teaspoon at a time, stirred into 1/4 cup of plain water. If it's OK to use this product, do so several times a day. It will soothe your colon.

At least your doctors have checked you over, so there's likely nothing seriously wrong.

I do sincerely hope you feel better soon.
