Cat kidney stones?
For a long time now my cat has been peeing on the floor. I took him to the vet and they found nothing wrong physically. Today though he was peeing blood and acting like it hurt. I called the vet back and made an appointment for the morning so this question is just a heads up for me and to find if anyone else has experienced this with their cat...he has been peeing for over siz months on the floor, normal looking urine and shown no signs of pain. (as i said before the vet could not even find anything) on the phone today they said it may be kidney stones. if it was why is it now that he is peeing blood and being in pain during urination and not all the months before? they said it can take a long f time for stones to really bother a cat...is this true that it could have taken over six months to form to where it was a huge problem?

What kind of diagnostics has your vet done? They should do a urinalysis, urine culture, radiographs of the bladder, and possibly ultrasound. Bladder stones should be visible on a radiograph (x-ray). If they're large enough they need to be surgically removed. They don't suddenly become large, so yes it can take a while for them to get that way. Cats can also have cystitis (like interstitial cystitis in people) which causes their bladder to be constantly irritated, and can cause blood in the urine. Just FYI, the cat's urine can look perfectly normal to you, but still have blood in it. Your vet needs to rule out different causes for your kitty's problem so they can treat it appropriately.
