kidney stones in teenagers
How can a teenager get kidney stones?

I'm 19 and I was diagnosed with a kidney stone this past week.
I eat lots of fruit, and as many vegetables as I can. I stay away from salt and even purposely search for salt-free foods like unsalted peanuts and drink as much water as I can. I even bring a water bottle around with me to class with me.
I'm probably more healthy now than I ever was in high school, but my body seems to disagree with me.
The only difference now is that I'm drinking far less milk than I ever did in high school.
I heard that most stones are due to a build-up of calcium in the body, but I haven't been having that much at all.
Could this be just the opposite?

I think that I have already passed the stone, so I'm not sure if there is a way that I will ever know why I even got one.

I have heard that not getting enough calcium can actually lead to kidney stones developing. And certain foods such as the older varieties of spinach have high oxalic acid levels that can cause kidney stones in certain people. The oxalic acid starts crystals to growing in the kidneys that build up to become stones. There are other foods that have oxalic acid in them too.

There are acidic foods that can help dissolve kidney stones, corn silk tea or capsules is one, and lemon juice and water, and apple cider vinegar and water. It takes time to dissolve them naturally.
