Right Side/back pain... Kidney infection?

I have had a kidney stone before on the left side. Today my right side hurts and the pain is familiar, yet not as intense. Could it be a kidney infection? Have you had a kidney infection? Did the pain start out small and gradually get worse or was it more comparable to kidney stone pain?

I had a kidney infection, the pain was pretty intense for a couple days. I thought I hurt my lower back, the pain was relieved when I would lay on my belly on a flat floor.
After a few days of intense pain, that increased a little, I pissed blood. That is when I went to the doctor.

They took pretty pictures of my insides. I had to drink this nasty drink that made my insides glow.

The drink was horrid - it made me feel like I pissed my pants!!!!!!!!!!
