lower back and kidney pain?
I have had a serious health condition with kidney stones and lower back pain caused from herniated disc at l-4&5 levels..This past weekend I lifted 2 100 pound bags of grain and it triggered the severe pain again causing me to have pain in the lower back to the left side down to testicle area. Prior to that i was feeling ok..not great but the pain level was manageable. Right now the only comfort I have is when I am laying down..sitting up causes me pain..what can I do...may I have triggered a stone to move since I know that I have a couple just floating around out there. Oh and I am having trouble to urinate and no bowel movements for 3 days..
The back pain could be due to your herniated disk at the L4 and L5 position, and lifting a heavy object could have caused more stress and strain to this area. You also at the same time could be passing a kidney stone too. The kidney stone will cause a tremendous amount of pain, and little to no urine out put. A physician could diagnose the kidney stone with a simple X-ray. In my clinical judgement, I believe that you strained your back lifting the grain bags. You probably have a kidney stone that hasn't been passed yet either, also causing pain; so I believe that it is both of the conditions are causing you pain. Having no bowel movement for 3 days can be caused by a many number of things. If you are taking narcotic medication for pain, such as Lortab (hydrocodone/tylenol) or Percocet (oxycodone/tylenol), or any other narcotic pain medication, they will cause profound constipation while they are in your system. You could also be dehydrated, which will cause constipation. Any vitamins, be it over-the-counter, or prescription vitamins. that contain a large amount of iron can also cause constipation. My advice on either case is to make sure and drink alot of water; at least 8 glasses of water a day (64 fluid ounces), and do not take any NSAID pain reliever such as ibuprofen (Advil,Motrin), naproxen (Aleve,Naprosyn). Those medications can actually decrease your kidney funtion even more, and making it even harder for you urinate. If you haven't had a bowel movement in 3 days, I would reccomend Miralax over-the-counter along with the 8 glasses ofr water a day, to help with this. Also you need to see your Dr for the condition, that way he can run labs on you, and give a diagnosis of what exactly is the definitive cause of your pain. Good luck, and I hope everything starts getting better for you!!
