Is there a way to keep from getting canker sores from drinking lemonade?
I recently had a kidney stone removed, and along with drinking A LOT more water, my doctor advised me to drink two glasses of lemonade a day to help prevent new stones from forming. I've seen this information on the Mayo Clinic website as well. So now I'm drinking two glasses of lemonade a day in addition to my water. Is there any way to keep from getting canker sores from the acidity of the lemonade?
Some people can drink lemonade every day and never get canker sores. These painful sores inside the mouth may be triggered by stress, injury, nutritional deficiencies, menstruation or genetic factors. They usually clear up in one to two weeks. Get Anbesol or Orajel at a pharmacy to help with the pain. There are also mouthwashes that will help - get ones without alcohol. And rinse your mouth with warm salt water several times a day - it is gross but it really will help.
