I have kidney stones?
I was diagnosed with kidney stones this past August. I have several small stones in each kidney. The problem is that I no longer have health insurance, and cannot afford to pay to see my urologist out of pocket. I still have moderate to severe back pain that over the counter meds do not help. What are my options for cheap health care? I make $8.75 an hour and do not think I would qualify for low income medical assistance. Also, can long term back pain from kidney stones damage the muscles in my back?
My stones are all 2-3 mm (I think), and are passable. I just haven't passed all of them yet. I do take potassium citrate every day to help prevent more stones (still have 3 refills on that).
I don't know how old you are, but beer is the best flusher of kidney stones. Not to drink so much that you get drunk, but a beer or six will really make go and hopefully pass them. The bigger stones, which I had recently, started out as real small. Never did pass it, then one day wamo, pain, pain, pain. The only pain they say is worse is that of a lady having a baby. But that pain is the easiest to forget once you hold that precious little one. That stone had to be busted up using a stone blaster. Drinking lots of liquids, water you have to watch, especially tap water, because some of it is hard water, should be all you need to do. Usually when you head for the Emergency Room of a Hospital, you pass the stone getting there. I have a Son in Kentucky that just the other day went to the E.R. He passed one stone, and there are still two little ones in each kidney. They just sent him home and told him what I just told you, Flush them out the best way you can. Good luck to you young lady.
