Kidney stones!?

I've had kidney stones for about a year and a half. I recently changed urologists due to the fact that i have several kindey stones in both kidneys, and my urologist told me the only solution was to drink water and pass them...

My new urologist is going to do lithroscopy and break them down so i can pass them, and start on my new medication and hopefully not form anymore! My question is how painful is the lithroscopy procedure. I know i will be completely sedated, but is it an outpatient procedure, and how much pain will i be in afterwards???

I had it done and had tons of stones. I was in surgery for 8 hours; its usually on 3 hrs or so. I had stones from when I was preg so I developed a lot and couldn't get rid of them until after the preg. Yes its an outpatient procedure. The pain depends on how many stones and how much they have to laser. My back hurted bad enough to take pain med for only a few days. It hurt pretty bad like someone punched you in the back. I found that a heating pad really does help or an electric blanket. I developed an infection afterward so be careful its easy to get one afterward. I had to be given stronger med. If you get stents those will hurt. Those were the worst part for me. You will probably get them cause it allows the stones to not get trapped and cause you more problems. They told me I would pass the grains of stone but I only saw it once. And it didn't hurt at all. So just take the pain med they give you and use heat. Follow the directions they give you and you should be fine.
